Terms of use
These are the terms for using Atlas, and they are short because the app is small and nobody is trying to hide anything in them.
Atlas runs on your own device and, if you choose to run one, on your own computer. There is no service behind it. That shapes everything below: most of what a normal set of terms covers — accounts we hold, data we process, uptime we promise — does not exist here, and saying otherwise to look professional would be the dishonest option.
Who it is for
Atlas is for people 12 and over. Signing up asks for the year you were born and refuses anybody younger — that is the App Store rating this app ships at, and a rating an app does not hold itself to is a claim rather than a fact.
An account for somebody under 18 starts with sensitive films hidden: films their author or the person running the instance has marked sensitive, and anything reported that nobody has looked at yet. That can be turned off in the app, and it can be locked with a four-digit code so that the person it applies to cannot lift it themselves. Turning it on never needs the code — anybody may choose to see less.
The year you were born is kept on the machine running the instance, is used only for those two decisions, and goes nowhere else.
What you agree to
Nothing objectionable, and nobody abusive. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on any instance of this app. That means, plainly: no sexual content involving anyone under eighteen, ever; no content that sexualises a child in any way; no threats or incitement to violence; no harassment of another person; no hate speech aimed at anyone for who they are; and nothing you do not have the right to share. An account used for any of that will be closed by whoever runs the instance, and content of the first two kinds will be reported to the authorities.
You own what you make, and you are responsible for it. Your footage is yours. Nobody here acquires a licence to it, because nobody here receives it. You are responsible for having the right to use whatever you put in — including music, which is the one people get wrong.
The app does not post for you. Atlas plans, cuts and checks. Every share to another service is a deliberate action you take, on that service, under its own terms.
Reporting and blocking
Every film, message and person in the app has a Report control, and reporting also offers to block. Blocking is immediate: it takes both people's content out of each other's reach in both directions, and it needs nobody's permission.
A report goes to the person who runs the instance you are on — a named human whose computer it is, not a queue. They can remove any film and close any account (auteur moderate). Reports about a child's safety, violence, or anything illegal are shown to them first and marked as urgent.
If the instance you are on is not being looked after, stop using it. That is a real answer rather than a comfortable one: an instance is somebody's computer, and the person who chose to trust it is the person who can stop.
Your account
You can delete your account from inside the app, under You → Delete my account. It removes the account, every film you made and its files, every conversation you are part of, your profile and picture, your planned posts, and any reels you added — from the computer running the instance, immediately. There is no copy kept and there is no undo.
What is not promised
The app is provided as it is. It may have faults, it may lose a render, and no one warrants that it is fit for any particular purpose. Nobody here is liable for anything you lose by using it — keep your originals, which you should be doing anyway.

Atlas is published by Auteur Studies. Reports about content on an instance go to whoever runs that instance, from inside the app; this address is for the app itself.
Changes
If these terms change, the new ones are in this file, in the repository, with the change visible in its history. There is no version of them that anybody can alter quietly.
